Our Story

We’re a couple trail blazing into the heights of mid life (39/40) with a healthy appetite for stepping outside our comfort zones. We’ve got a small bison herd that serves our local area and a growing family expecting our 10th before long. This is as shocking to us as to you. They’re just so stinkin’ cute. We also sport Kunekune pigs, heritage chickens (eggs), velveteen bunnies, some jersey cows, a couple of pretty horses, so many cats and a dog.

We fell in love after meeting at the U of S in the College of Commerce (Edwards School of Business) in 2006 where Erin took a little gamble to see past Luke’s awful shoes and give him a shot. A few years and a few children later we decided to take on the daunting adventure of starting a bison ranch in 2017 on some ancestral land near Prud’homme sk.

Both having a city upbringing with Luke’s background in finance and home building, we found (still find) ourselves faced with a steep learning curve and no shortage of obstacles to overcome. Oh yes and our entire operation is completely off the electrical grid. Love.

Long story short we love our bison. They’re a super food with a whole pile of health benefits: heart heart, lowering inflammation (not inflation - we wish) and boosting the immune system to name a few. We raise them without the use of any herbicides, pesticides, hormones, or antibiotics. All grass fed. As it was in the beginning.

We’ve also discovered many gems about homestead life that we’re happy to share with our customers like soaps, tallow, broth, teas, eggs, freshly baked sourdough, dark chocolate, ice cream and more.

We try to consume items that were available in a shop from the mid 1800s. We haven’t looked back since making grass fed animal fats and proteins the cornerstone of our diet. Not even a little. Thanks for giving our bison a shot!
